Beyond Sound is designed as a tool for individuals with hearing impairments, allowing them to experience music in ways beyond sound. By engaging the other senses, Beyond Sound enables users to feel and see their favourite music, bringing them closer to the emotional connection they once had or have never experienced before. You’re sound asleep in your remote cabin when a sudden bang at the door jolts you awake. You try to move but find yourself paralysed, only able to turn your head. With civilisation miles away, all you can do is listen and hope whatever is outside stays there. This experience relies heavily on situational and directional sound to create fear. Though nothing is physically at the door, the inability to see what’s there lets the mind wander, amplifying the fear of the unknown. Realistic audio and dimly lit, low-visibility visuals heighten the tension, while the isolation of the woods reinforces a sense of helplessness.
